In some cases, TMJ is temporary and resolves on its own, but for others, it becomes a chronic condition that causes ongoing pain.

Some individuals with TMJ experience lockjaw, where the jaw becomes either stuck shut or wide open. In these cases, medical intervention is required to relax the muscles and address the issue.
